Fred Altman holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Wofford College and brings more than 30 years of experience across banking, construction, insurance, and project development. After witnessing the profound need for affordable housing among veterans in South Carolina, Fred felt called to act. Guided by his faith and a deep commitment to service, he founded VALanthropy to ensure veterans have access to permanent housing, stability, and dignity.
Tom Lash is a Marine Corps Vietnam-era veteran and a graduate of Southern Colorado State College in Pueblo, Colorado. After nearly three decades in the staffing industry—including ten years as President and CEO of a $100 million government division for the world’s largest staffing company—Tom retired with a legacy of service. Throughout his career, he championed veterans transitioning from military to civilian life, helping more than 6,000 U.S. military veterans secure meaningful employment by translating their service and training into private-sector opportunity.
Lilly brings over 30 years of military-community experience as the spouse of a retired U.S. Air Force member. Through decades of supporting military life and raising four children, she developed a deep understanding of the challenges veterans face after service. As the founder of Lilly Ellen Printing & Graphic Design, Lilly combines strategic marketing expertise with an empathetic, resource-driven approach to help VALanthropy grow its impact and better serve veterans in need. awareness, and meaningful support.
